DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

I have been dreaming of making this film for several years. Being inspired by the Taiwanese series, History, and Red Balloon, I want to create a project with a similar format in Europe and introduce it not only to the European audience but also to the international one.

As a child, I was fascinated by the concept of a series as I was thrilled to follow a long story and grow up with the characters. This fascination stayed with me until today.

Being a queer person myself, I have watched many LGBTIQ+ series, which have inspired me not only in my film career but also in my life.

I have already made several short films and the reason I decided to create an Episodic Film, is that it is a missing format in the central European area. There are not many very well known series from this part of Europe; the most recent one would be Kunthergrau from Germany.

Who Are We? reflects my view on today's world in the liberal city of Vienna. I want to show what it is like to be in a gay relationship and the struggles we have. Having overcome coming out and getting comfortable with being gay is only the first step. The next stage is to be able to live in a stable healthy relationship.

Given the more liberal style of queer people, many couples find themselves experimenting with others. On one side, this can be a vital enrichment to your sex life, on the other side, it can be quite dangerous when both partners are not on the same page.

More importantly, I want to show the role that money, dreams, and different views of life play in a relationship? Will these bond us together or tear us apart?

Nowadays, there are so many ways to make a living - one can own a company, be a freelancer or not even work at all, if you have rich parents who pay for everything. Having different attitudes towards life from a money perspective can be detrimental to your relationship. However, this is only something, which we often discover very late into our relationship and is something that is rarely talked about.
